Adam Bradley, Managing Director of Corrosion Resistant Materials, recently shared the inspiring story behind the company receiving the Queen’s Award, during a podcast with Made in Group.
Last year, Corrosion Resistant Materials celebrated winning the Queen's Award for Enterprise in International Trade with the visit of Lord-Lieutenant Dame Hilary Chapman to their site in Rotherham, South Yorkshire. The company, founded in 2015 by owners Chris Williams and Lee Perry, won the award back in April 2022 for exceptional growth in Export Sales.
Having joined the business in 2018, Adam was brought in to help kickstart the company’s growth onto the next step, by beginning a new focus on exporting. At that point, Corrosion Resistant Materials did not export whereas now 66% of turnover comes from exporting, therefore Made in Group chose Corrosion Resistant Materials’ story to be the first episode of their podcast series.
Adam was keen to share the story behind the business winning the Queen’s Award through the Our Finest Hour podcast, in order to celebrate the hard work of the people at Corrosion Resistant Materials who were integral to the success, whilst also hopefully offering some insight to the manufacturing community
The Queen’s Award was awarded in April 2022, however, this was the culmination of 3 years of hard work and substantial growth. Adam shared on the podcast how the revenue in export sales grew from £100,000 in the first year, to £700,000 in the second, and £1.4 million in export sales in the third.
Moving into the present, Corrosion Resistant Materials have not rested on their laurels, and have in fact used the publicity and good will received from the Queen’s Award recognition to take their growth to the next level. In the 12 months since the Queen’s Award, Corrosion Resistant Materials export sales has gone from £1.4 million to £2.5 million.
Corrosion Resistant Materials supplies over 70 different grades of materials into 38 countries worldwide, including the Middle East, Far East, America, Australia and Europe, and offers a full supply service including Heat Treatment, Machining, Testing, and Forging.
